Learn About Asteroids and Watch ‘National Parks Adventure’ in the Planetarium

LOS ALAMOS, NM – Join astronomer Rick Wallace in the Los Alamos Nature Center’s planetarium at 7 p.m.  Friday, Nov. 23, to learn all about the past and future of asteroid impacts and threats. Audience members will watch the full-dome film “Incoming!” at this event and enjoy an audio-visual presentation from Wallace on the nature of asteroids, their possible involvement in bringing water to the young Earth, Internet predictions of the immanent destruction of Earth and more.

In addition to the Friday evening discussion, the nature center is showing the full-dome film “National Parks Adventure” at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, This vibrant film was brought to Los Alamos by CB Fox, Metzger’s Hardware and the Delle Foundation, with additional funding from Manhattan Project National Historical Park. Seeing this film is a perfect way to celebrate Thanksgiving weekend with any friend or family member with a love of the outdoors.

Seating is limited for both the talk and movie, so please call the nature center at 505-662-0460 or stop by to reserve tickets. Admission for both events is $6 for adults and $4 for kids. Events in the planetarium are not recommended for kids under age 4.
