LANB Provides 162 Students With Trip To Bradbury

In partnership with the Bradbury Science Museum Association (BSMA), Los Alamos National Bank (LANB) recently provided the bus transportation for 162 students from Arroyos Del Norte Elementary School in Arroyo Seco, F.X. Nava Elementary School in Santa Fe and McCurdyCharter School in Española.

The BSMA/LANB partnership is enabling students from Northern New Mexico Title 1 Schools to travel to the museum and visit Los Alamos.

“I would like to express my sincere thanks in being invited for a second year to bring a group of 44 fourth graders to your museum. It is always difficult for us to plan field trips due to limited funding,”McCurdy teacher Sheila Cantrell said. “The generosity from LANB allowed many of my students who have never experienced a museum to have a very thoughtful and wonderful day learning about engineering. I hope that next year we can bring a whole new group of eager learners to the Bradbury Science Museum.”

During the field trip, the students enjoy working in teams to solve an engineering problem and then tour the museum galleries learning about the history of Los Alamos and looking for examples of how engineering has an impact on their every day lives.

“I am so happy to see so many children from our region enjoying our museum and learning about our history … it makes me proud to work for an institution that values and significantly supports our kids and the non-profits supporting our region,” said LANB Market President Liddie Martinez, the BSMA/LANB Partnership representative.
