Information Fair on Immigration Executive Action To Be Held By Luján and Lujan Grisham Saturday, April 18
Will Be Joined by Special Guest Rep. Luis Gutiérrez to Educate Community on DACA and DAPA Programs
Albuquerque – U.S. Representatives Ben Ray Luján and Michelle Lujan Grisham of New Mexico will hold a DACA and DAPA Information Fair Saturday, April 18, in Albuquerque to inform the community about President Obama’s immigration executive action. The event, which will take place at the CNM Workforce Training Center, will feature special guest Representative Luis Gutiérrez, a strong immigration advocate who has been touring the country highlighting how the executive action will impact the immigrant community.
The president’s executive action expanded the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program and created the new Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents (DAPA) program. While the implementation of the new DACA and DAPA programs have been delayed by the court, it is important for the community to understand the details of the programs to determine if they will qualify for deferred action and to prepare to apply once they go into effect.
The fair will include an information session to provide an overview of changes to immigration policies, along with the opportunity to meet with local advocates, counselors and representatives from immigrant service organizations. Members of the community interested in attending are encouraged to register for the DACA and DAPA Information Fair at http://bit.ly/1Jtzjt8.
