Governor Visits Library To Promote Reading

Staff Report

Governor Susana Martinez stopped by the EspaƱola Public Library at the Lucero Center Wednesday, June 3 to read a book to a group of preschoolers and promote the state reading initiative for elementary school age children. As in past years the Governor took some time to tell the young children about prizes that readers can win by reading and recording what they read over the summer. She then sat on the floor and read a book to an enthusiastic group of young children. After the reading the Governor and her staff gave each child a new book for them to keep.

The Governor then spent a few minutes chatting with local elected leaders including Mayor Alice Lucero and taking a few questions from the press.
