Fatal Motor Vehicle Fire Update By State Police
Rio Arriba County – On Sunday, April 12, 2015 around 2:30 a.m., the New Mexico State Police responded to the scene of a vehicle fire in the vicinity of Forest Road 103/Forest Road 172, near Gallina, New Mexico. When officers arrived on scene they discovered the remains of two deceased bodies in the vehicle.
The New Mexico State Police Investigations Bureau is investigating the scene and the cause of the fire. The victims have been positively identified by the Office of the Medical Investigator as Eric Salazar, twenty-two years of age, and Renzo Comanche, fifty-three years of age. Mr. Comanche was Mr. Salazar’s uncle and both were from the nearby area.
At this time, circumstances surrounding the deaths appear to be suspicious and are being investigated as such. Further details will be released as the investigation continues.
