Española Area Winter Weather Advisory
The National Weather Service office in Albuquerque issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the greater Española area Tuesday afternoon. The advisory warns of accumulating snow as well as strong and gusty winds between 6 p.m. Tuesday evening and 5 p.m. Wednesday.

The advisory indicates snow accumulations from 1-4 inches in the upper Rio Grande and lower Chama river valleys and 4-8 inches in the mountains. Snow will become widespread during the later evening and overnight, tapering off during the day Wednesday.
Expect strong winds from the west with speeds between 15-30 MPH, with gusts up to 40 MPH.
Drivers should expect snow packed and icy conditions on area roads including Hwy 285 and State Roads 68 and 522.
