Española Area DWI Checkpoints Planned For This Weekend 

ESPAÑOLA — On May 2nd RAC STOP with the direction of their Joint Task Force and law enforcement, a Cinco de Mayo multi-agency, multi-jurisdiction checkpoint operation will take place within the Española and outside surrounding areas. Saturation Patrols will also simultaneously be taking place. Rio Arriba County Substance, Treatment, Outreach and Prevention Program (RAC STOP) has publicized the DWI checkpoints ahead of time for the purpose of increasing the public’s awareness of DWI enforcement, deterrence, perception of risk, and indicates to the public the numerous of entities working together.  Supporting entities are as follows:

  • New Mexico State Police – District 7
  • New Mexico State Police – District 1
  • Española Police Department
  • Rio Arriba County Sheriff’s Office
  • Rio Arriba County Detention Center
  • Rio Arriba County Emergency Management Services
  • Santa Clara Tribal Police Department
  • Santa Fe Police Department
  • Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office
  • RAC STOP – Rio Arriba County Substance Treatment Outreach Prevention Program
  • Generation Hope Coalition
  • Supporting Agency: Santa Fe DWI Program

The State Police has also publicized that they will continue conducting Sobriety Checkpoints, Saturation Patrols, and Registration, Insurance and Drivers’ License Checkpoints in all New Mexico counties throughout the month of May.
