Staff Reporter Sports Report

Northern New Mexico College Eagle head coach Ryan Cordova is proud to announce the release of the 2015-2016 basketball schedule. “We have a lot of talent this year, a good mix of returning players and new faces that will definitely give us an opportunity to compete” says Cordova.
The schedule consists of 9 home games, and three tournaments that will give the community of the Espanola Valley plenty of basketball action to look forward to. The Eagles also travel to West Palm Beach, FL for the Keiser University New Year’s Classic.  The Eagles will face Keiser University and head coach Rollie Massimino, who won an NCAA Division I National Championship while coaching Villanova.  “It is an honor and a great opportunity to get the chance to play against legendary Coach Massimino” Cordova said.
This year the Aii Conference added new teams to increase the total count to 14.  By doing so, the conference tournament will consists of the top 8 teams, with three automatic bids to the NAIA Division II National Tournament.  The Aii Conference tournament will take place at the end of February in Cedar Rapids, IA.
The Eagles will wrap up their regular season against New Mexico State University in Rio Rancho, NM at the Santa Ana Star Center on February 8th.
