City Election Results
Tuesday night candidates for city council and their supporters gathered in Española City Hall to watch election results come in.
Early voting and poll results from election day voters were tallied quickly but the 145 absentee ballots cast in this year’s election took longer to tabulate than anticipated, delaying the results in some of the closer races.
When the results finally rolled in around 9:30 p.m. incumbent Dennis Tim Salazar in district 1 and Peggy Sue Martinez in district 2 were returned to office. District 3 elected Manuel Martinez and in district 4, former councilor Robert Seeds appears to have defeated incumbent Cory Lewis by a margin of 2 votes out of 474 votes cast.
Elections as close as the district 4 race often lead to challenges, delaying the official results.
In addition, municipal judge Steven Salazar was reelected in an uncontested race.
Roughly 1300 voters, or around 30% of all registered voters in the city voted in this years election. See below or HERE for full unofficial totals as released by the Española City Clerk.
