Capital Projects Update by Rio Arriba Grants and Contracts Director
ESPAÑOLA – Six weeks ago Rio Arriba County brought on John Paul Romero as a consultant operating in the capacity as the Director of Grants and Contracts.
This new role centralizes oversight of all Rio Arriba county capital projects that are ongoing and currently in the design and/or construction phase. When asked about his new position with the county, John Paul Romero stated that he is responsible for ensuring that county capital projects meet the needs, goals and budgetary constraints of the county.
Mr. Romero had his first opportunity to brief the County Commission on capital project Thursday, March 26 during a Commission meeting in Española. In his report, Romero says he detailed current status of the major ongoing capital projects in the county, their current status and anticipated time for completion of the next major milestone. Capital Project Updates
Through March 25, 2015,
Canjilon Old School Demolition and Community Center Project:Status: • Demolition contract awarded – Contractor Russell Sand and Gravel, contract amount $120,000 Canjilon Community Center – Schematic Design phase completed. • A public meeting was held March 17, 2015, approx. 40 people attended after meeting there was an unanimous vote to move forward with the project. • Anticipated Schedule. Design Phase thru Construction Documents March thru May 2015 • Construction anticipated to Begin in June after bidding phase |
Fire Station Projects – Truchas and Brazos :Status: • Brazos Substation, mandatory pre bid meeting scheduled for March 31, at 1:30 p.m. • Receive Bids April 7, 2015, • Truchas; Met with the Project team to discuss expansion, working on contracts for Design of addition • Anticipated bid date of August 2015 |
Chimayo Playground / Park :Status: • Under Construction – 85 percent complete – Project on hold • Meeting with Construction Industry Division (CID) to address and resolve issues • 3 weeks to get necessary permits and documents • Anticipated Completion date – May 2015 |
TA Archive Building Project:Status: • Under Construction – 25 percent complete – Project was on Hold Since December due to weather and site conditions, Contractor back at site and project is under construction • Construction has gone vertical, interior wall are almost complete on vault, pour of slab on next section of building scheduled next • Anticipated Completion date – October 2015 • Budget/Bid Amount – $2,539,000 – amount expended to date –$640,800 ( 25 percent of budget) |
Coyote Public Works Maintenance facility :Status: • Under Construction – 50 percent complete • Budget/Bid Amount – $638,787 – amount expended to date – $192,845 (30 percent of budget) • Anticipated Completion date – May 2015 |
Alcalde Transfer Station :Status: • Project Complete 100 percent complete – • Working with staff of warranty issue, getting ready to schedule 11 month warranty walk thru |
Other Miscellaneous Projects :Status: • Dixon community center expansion – working on getting bids for A/E • Alcalde Community Center Park / Playground has been completed San Pedro Community Center improvemnts, need to have property surveyed for future improvements • Canones Early childhood student bus ordered thru CES • City / County Project; Veterans Memorial Wall Amphitheater, Project has been awarded to Mar-Tech, Construction on Project to start next week, Completion by May 28, 2015, |
