Breaking News: Shots Fired Near Chimayo Elementary

The New Mexico State Police responded to a 911 call, shortly after noon, about shots being fired near Chimayo Elementary School. State Police, along with the Rio Arriba County Sheriff’s Office and Santa Fe Police responded and are on scene investigating the situation, as Chimayo Elementary School remains with a Shelter in Place. According to Rio Arriba County Sheriff James Lujan, police are searching for a man in a red shirt and tan trousers, carrying a riffle.  Police assume he shot the white-faced cow they found in the field next to the Elementary. Superintedent Bobbie Guiterrez is reported to be on her way to assess the situation and release the Shelter in Place. This is the third shooting threat EspaƱola Public Schools have experienced in nine days.
