ATTENTION VETERANS! Stand Down Event In Espanola
Are you a veteran who is homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, or is your family homeless?
Do you know a veteran who is having a hard time? Come out to the Espanola Veterans Outreach on Friday, December 18th at the Northern New Mexico College, NNMC Eagle Gymnasium, 921 N. Paseo de Onate , from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., for Veterans only, to obtain services and supplies. All homeless are welcome to attend from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The Veteran’s Integrations Centers (VIC), the Northern New Mexico College Veterans Resource Center and the Student Veterans of American Association, and other Veteran’s and community based organizations will be on hand to assist Veterans with VA benefits, housing and employment assistance, referrals, clothing, and much more. Lunch will be provided to Veterans.
Stand Downs are typically one- to three-day events providing supplies and services to homeless Veterans, such as food, shelter, clothing, health screenings and VA Social Security benefits counseling. Veterans can also receive referrals to other assistance such as health care, housing solutions, employment, substance use treatment and mental health counseling. They are collaborative events, coordinated between local VA Medical Centers, other government agencies and community-based homeless service providers.
Representatives from support agencies, businesses and non-profit groups are coming together to help those who have sacrificed to serve our country.
