Assessing the Situation: Crisis Intervention Training Held June 25
Over 40 individuals from ProSec, RAHHS, Las Cumbres, El Centro Family Health, Hoy Recovery, Inside-Out, Espanola Community Market, and other organizations participated in two days of workshops and role playing to learn crisis de-escalation skills. The training was sponsored by the Rio Arriba Community Health Council at Hernandez Community Center.
Dr. Troy Rodgers, a psychologist and a hostage negotiator, led the two-day session that provided professionals and community members and informative and hands-on training.
A similar but more in depth training is being provided to local police officers to enable them to better deal with crisis situations.
