April 4 – Free Movie “How to Train Your Dragon 2”                    3:45 – 5:45 p.m.
Five years have passed since Hiccup and Toothless united the dragons and .Vikings of Berk. Now, they spend their time charting the island’s unmapped territories. During one of their adventures, the pair discover a secret cave that houses hundreds of wild dragons — and a mysterious dragon rider who turns out to be Hiccup’s long-lost mother, Valka (Cate Blanchett). Hiccup and Toothless then find themselves at the center of a battle to protect Berk from a power-hungry warrior named Drago. FREE Popcorn!
April 7 – 13 – Celebrate National Library Week
First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association and libraries across the United States each April, typically the second full week. In 1954 a nonprofit National Book Committee was established between the ALA and the American Book Publishers.
April 7 – 13  – Library Snapshot Day          9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
We would like our library patrons to tag us in your photos that you take of yourself in the library, use the hashtag #EspanolaLibrary505 on Instagram or City of Espanola Public Library Facebook page, we’d love to see your photos!
April 7 – 13  – Book Hunt                 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
In celebration of National Library Week join us for a “BOOK HUNT” activity. Stop by the library and pick up a form and just follow the instructions, once you turn in your form at the circulation desk your name will be put in for a chance to win movie tickets at the end of the week!
April 10 – Bird Craft 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.
We’d love for you all to stop by and join us in this bird craft, which is simple and fun for everyone! All ages encouraged to attend all supplies provided.
April 11 – Story Hour “The Curious Little Dolphin”         10 – 11 a.m.
After story hour join Tammy in making your very own Dolphin Sun Catcher.
April 12 – Coffee with a Cop            9:30 – 10:45 a.m.
Coffee with a Cop is a nation program with no agenda or speeches. The event is an opportunity to ask question, voice concerns and get to know the officers in your community.
April 13 – 8th Annual Easter Egg Hunt in the Valley                     10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Over 8 thousand eggs at Valdez Park for children ages 2-12. Prizes, Refreshments, and the Easter Bunny! Thank you to the following sponsors: City of Española Community Services Department, Rio Arriba County Recreation Department, Friends of the Española Public Library, and RAC STOP. Don’t forget to bring your own baskets for the hunt.
April 15 – DIY Light-Up Fireflies Activity   3:30 – 4:30 p.m.
Join Lucy in this all ages craft and make a cute little glow in the dark firefly, all supplies provided, please sign up at the circulation desk or call Lucy at 747-6088.
April 17 – Paper Kite Activity                      3:30 – 4:30 p.m.
Join Valerie as she shows you how to make your very own paper kite, all supplies provided.
April 18 – Story Hour            10 – 11 a.m.
Join Tammy for story hour as she reads “The Night before Easter” after story hour stay and make a 3-D Easter scene.
April 22 – National Jelly Bean Day 3 – 4 p.m.
Created and made popular during the Civil War, jelly beans have always, and will forever be one of America’s favorite candies. These bite size, gooey vessels of goodness are honored on April 22 of every year—National Jelly Bean Day. Stop by and get a bag of Jelly Bean’s while supplies last!
April 23 – Superhero Bank Craft                 3 – 4 p.m.
Join Michael as you create your very own Superhero Bank, all supplies provided. Sign up at the circulation desk or call Michael at 747-6090.
April 25 – Story Hour            10 – 11 a.m.
Tammy will be reading “Chicken Little” and stay for a toilet paper tube chicken.
April 26 – Family Movie Night “Glass”       5 p.m.
M. Night Shyamalan brings together the narratives of two of his standout originals—2000’s Unbreakable, from Touchstone, and 2016’s Split, from Universal—in one explosive, all-new comic-book thriller: Glass. From Unbreakable, Bruce Willis returns as David Dunn as does Samuel L. Jackson as Elijah Price, known also by his pseudonym Mr. Glass. Joining from Split are James McAvoy, reprising his role as Kevin Wendell Crumb and the multiple identities who reside within, and Anya Taylor-Joy as Casey Cooke, the only captive to survive an encounter with The Beast. Following the conclusion of Split, Glass finds Dunn pursuing Crumb’s superhuman figure of The Beast in a series of escalating encounters, while the shadowy presence of Price emerges as an orchestrator who holds secrets critical to both men. April 29 – Clay Pot Craft                  3:30 – 4:30 p.m.

Stop by and paint a clay pot for your flowers this spring, there are many ideas on painting the clay pots and Lucy will help you with your creation.
