Santa Fe, NM – On Wednesday, Attorney General Hector Balderas successfully secured the conviction of Gary Gregor, former teacher in the Española School District, for his sexual assault of multiple 4th grade students during the 2007-2008 school year at Fairview Elementary School. A jury of Gregor’s peers found him guilty of 3 counts of 1st-Degree Felony Criminal Sexual Penetration, 5 counts of 1st-Degree Kidnapping, and 4 counts of 1st-Degree Criminal Sexual Contact.

“Survivors of sexual abuse should always have a voice,” said Attorney General Hector Balderas. “The Office of the Attorney General will continue to prosecute those who abuse children.”

As a result of today’s conviction, Gregor faces up to 168 years in the New Mexico Department of Corrections. In addition, Gregor faces two additional trials related to additional allegations of child sexual assault. Those trials are set to proceed in early 2019.
