A Message Of Gratitude For Our Employees, Students, Parents And Community

During this time of Thanksgiving, we join in showing gratitude to the dedicated employees of the Los Alamos Public Schools.  We believe that helping children thrive is one of the most important things any of us can do. That is why we are so grateful to everyone for their work in helping our students feel safe, challenged, and supported at school.

In addition, we share our gratitude with parents and community members for being an important part of student achievement and for truly caring about each other. We are inspired by what we see in our schools and celebrate tireless support from our parents. Our community members enhance the Los Alamos Schools and we are exceptionally grateful to them for appreciating LAPS staff members who take student success personally.

One of the things we are most grateful for is the power of our schools to positively change lives.  This year, we have heard moving stories about how the LAPS experience prepared our graduates for success in college, work, or the military and lifelong learning.  We are also mindful that not everyone in our community experiences these wonderful blessings. Many families and students are in need of emotional support, mental health services, and help for other life challenges. Thanksgiving is a time to reach out and let them know we care.

Each year, the people of LAPS volunteer thousands of hours in support of families. They help in times of need locally and all over the world, organize food drives, participate in Adopt a Family and the African Library Project, provide tutoring, and assist through dozens of school clubs and non-profit groups. We are thankful for your volunteer service.

This year, our high school students have named November the “month of giving” and have been collecting food for families, writing letters to veterans, and finding coats for children.  We appreciate the Student Leadership Class.

The strength of our schools lies in the diverse people of LAPS and the community we serve. Our students and parents encourage us and make us proud.  Since LAPS is a continuous improvement school district, one emphasis today is on learning how to be thankful in a culturally sensitive environment. We are so grateful to be part of the LAPS family. Thank you for all that you do, and we wish you and your family a very safe and Happy Thanksgiving.
