Weird Weather Hits Valley

An unusually cold and wet weather front is making itself felt throughout northern New Mexico today as residents in the Valley woke up to snow.

The unusual weather has caused several events scheduled for this weekend to be canceled or postponed, including the Española clean up day and the opening day ceremony for the little league.

The National Weather Service projects that the weather front will remain in the area until Saturday.

Scattered showers. Cloudy, with a high near 53. Southwest wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Tonight

Scattered rain showers before 1am, then a chance of rain and snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 33. West wind 5 to 10 mph becoming east in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Saturday

Rain and snow showers likely, becoming all rain after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 44. North wind 10 to 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Saturday Night

Rain showers likely before 7pm, then a chance of rain and snow showers between 7pm and 1am, then a chance of snow showers after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 29. Northeast wind 15 to 20 mph decreasing to 5 to 10 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Sunday

A 30 percent chance of snow showers before 7am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 58. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph becoming west in the afternoon.
