A young Española  Valley High School wrestling team picked up more experience just before the Christmas holidays, hosting a triangular meet with local rival Pojoaque Valley High School and the Robertson High School junior varsity.

The McCurdy Charter School Lady Bobcats battled bigger schools at the Ben Lujan basketball tournament hosted by Pojoaque Valley High School.
Class 5A Grants High School beat the Class 3A Lady Bobcats 57-35 Dec. 15 in the tournament’s opening round.

The Española  Valley High School boys basketball team ran its winning streak to seven games with victories over Kirtland Central High School and Bloomfield High School at the Eddie Pena Holiday Classic basketball tournament hosted by Grants High School. The Sundevils winning streak came to an end in the championship game against host Grants.

An Espanola Valley High School alumni was named as one of seven inductees to the New Mexico Sports Hall of Fame at an announcement ceremony Saturday, Dec. 17 at the Albuquerque Convention Center. The Class of 2016 will include 1983 EVHS graduate Adam Kedge, who played various sports for the Sundevils and was named the EVHS Athlete of the Year in 1983.

The final score may have looked like a solid 10-point win for the Pojoaque Valley High School Elks, but things were looking less than good at one point in their 71-61 win over the Socorro High School Warriors Dec. 8 at Pojoaque.

History was made at Ben Lujan Gymnasium Dec. 8 when Pojoaque Valley High School hosted a duals wrestling meet against Los Alamos High School. It was the first wrestling meet in the history of Pojoaque, which added a wrestling program to its athletic program this season.
