Plane Crash At Ohkay Owingeh Kills Los Alamos Residents

Friday afternoon a small two-person airplane crashed near the Ohkay Owingeh Airport killing both persons on board. On Saturday New Mexico State Police confirmed the deceased in Friday's plane crash as Karen Ann Young, 46, of Los Alamos, and Thomas Spickermann, 47, of Los Alamos. Young is believed to have been the pilot and Spickermann the co-pilot.

The Remos GX light sport airplane (tail number N28GX) crashed around 4:30 p.m., Friday in the vicinity of the Ohkay Owingeh Airport near Española.

The Federal Aviation Administration arrived Saturday morning to conduct an investigation into the cause and nature of the crash.
