Joann Y. Salazar Of Chamita

Joann Y. Salazar, 52, a resident Chamita, passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2017. Joann was preceded in death by her father Johnny Salazar Sr.; sister, Sandra Salazar; brother, John Salazar Jr.; grandmother, Adela Romero.

JoAnn loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She was a loving mother, daughter, grandmother, auntie and friend. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

JoAnn is survived by her daughter, Nicole Mascarenas (George); mother, Neoma Salazar, grandchildren, Johnnica Armijo, Melody  Mascarenas, Santiago Gallegos; Godson, Curtis Cruz (Cheyenne) and Olivia; Nephew, Dereck Salazar (Monica) and Kids; aunt, Erma Romero; niece, Rheanna Romero (Kyle) and Khareena and many other relatives and friends. 

Public visitation was on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh with the Burial at the Chamita Cemetery.

Serving the family as pallbearers was Curtis Cruz, Dereck Salazar, George Gallegos Jr., Miguel Trujillo, and Kyle Sandoval.

The family of JoAnn Y. Salazar has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley.

 


Levi Trujillo of Cordova

Levi Trujillo, 84, a resident of Cordova, passed away following a lengthy illness on Sunday, November 5, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Abel and Lucrecia Trujillo; in-laws, Candido Romero, Sarita Romero; son, James Trujllo, Andrew Trujillo, Tammy Trujillo,  Nelson Montoya; brothers, Elizardo Trujillo, Maclovio Ortiz; sister-in-law Amada Ortiz, close sister-in-law, Luisita Romero, brothers-in-law, Tony Romero, Candelario and Avaristo Romero; grandson, Joey Trujillo.

Levi enjoyed riding horses when he was younger and raising his lambs. He loved to sing for his family, and enjoyed spending time at the casino with good friends. He worked for 30 plus years at LANL as a custodian and was very proud of his work.

Levi is survived by his wife of 62 years, Gregorita Trujillo; children,, Nina Torrez (Lawrence), Frutoso Trujillo (Charlene), Sarah Chavez (Alfred), Evelyn Martinez (Dennis); siblings, Eloyda Sargent (Charles), Rudolpho Trujillo (Eremita), Grandson who cared for him and was raised by him, Antonio Trujillo, Grandchildren, Sheila Vigil, Alfred Trujillo, Valerie Gonzales, Florence Sanchez, Jamie Trujillo, Donny Trujillo, Crystal Martinez, Jody Trujillo, Erika Martinez – Montoya, Abel Trujillo, Meghan Martinez, Lucrecia Chavez, 15 great-grandchildren, Nurse Andrea Trujillo, Brothers and Sisters-in-Law Octavio Romero(Rita), Elsie and Ramon Amaya, Agustina, Dora Romero, Ida Trujillo  and numerous other nieces, nephews, Beloved friends and loved ones.

Public visitation was on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Friday, November 10, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo, with a burial at the San Antonio Catholic Cemetery in Cordova, with the following serving the family as pallbearers, Sheila Vigil, Crystal Martinez, Lucrecia Chavez, Meghan Martinez, Erika Martinez-Montoya, Valerie Gonzales, Florence Sanchez, and Kyleigh Trujillo, honorary pallbearers will be all his grandsons.

The family of Levi Trujillo has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley.

 


Annette L. Martinez of El Duende

Annette L. Martinez, 48, a resident of El Duende, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 4, 2017 following a short illness. She was preceded in death by her son Victor M. Quezada; father Waldo Sr.; brothers Waldo Jr. and Victor Martinez; paternal and maternal grandparents; in-laws Apuleyo and Sixta Quezada; and brother-in-law Nathan Lovato.

Annette had a love for her horses, enjoyed the outdoors, and loved being with her grandchildren. She also worked for Wal-Mart for 29 years.

Mrs. Martinez is survived by her husband of 34 years Tomas Quezada; sons Juan (Melinda) Quezada and Tomas Apuleyo Quezada Jr.; mother Beatrice Abeyta; sister Stephanie Martinez; grandchildren Jaylynn, Jalinna and Apuleyo; niece and nephews Tara (David), Nathan, Waldo (Sonya) and family, Andres (Roberta) and family; special aunt Benerita Martinez; god-mother Mabel Martinez; special friend Laurie Cobb and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Public visitation was on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Memorial mass was held on Monday, November 13, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo.
