Man Robbed LANB In White Rock Today ... Area Schools In Lockdown

Around noon today, Tuesday, Nov. 21, an armed man robbed the Los Alamos National Bank in White Rock. Shots were reportedly fired as the man left the building and fled on foot.

Police report that the robber is on the loose and Los Alamos Public Schools placed both Chamisa and Pinon elementary schools in White Rock on lockdown to keep students and staff safe while police hunt down the robber. The school district also opted to not run buses into White Rock, leaving parents to pick their children up from schools.

Police sent out alerts to area residents advising them to stay off the streets and keep all doors locked while they search for the suspect. State Police helicopters were called in to assist in the search.

The suspect is described as a white male wearing all black clothes including a black hoodie and cap with the letters DC on it. He is considered armed and dangerous. DO NOT approach any suspects. Residents should remain in their home with the doors locked.

Deputy Police Chief Jason Wardlow Herrera advises the public to avoid the area and report any suspicious activity to police at 505.662.8222. As of 3 p.m., the FBI was on scene and has taken over the investigation.
