Boys & Girls District Teams Advance to State Basketball Championship

 

Northern New Mexico communities are celebrating as five of the Valley’s high school teams have advanced to the New Mexico Activities Association State Basketball Championship. 

 5A Division

Both the Espanola Valley High School (EVHS) Boys and Girls Basketball teams brought home the regular season District 2AAAAA championship and are now advancing to the State Basketball Championship. 

EVHS will host the 1st round of the Girls 2AAAAA Tourney Championship Friday, March 6th at 6 P.M.at the Edward Medina Gymnasium with the Lady Sundevils facing off against Del Norte.

The EVHS will host the Boys finished off a 9-1 regular season and will start off the 2AAAAA Tourney Championship Saturday at 2 P.M. by hosting the Lovington Wildcats. This game will also be at the Edward Medina Gymnasium.

4A Division

The Pojoaque Valley Elks have also advanced to the State Championship and will meet the Shiprock Chieftains on Saturday at 5 P.M. Pojoaque will host this first round at Pojoaque High School Ben Lujan Gymnasium.

2A Division

Both the Escalante High School Boys and Girls have advanced to the Championship and will also be playing on Friday and Saturday.

The Lady Lobos will face off against Dora on Friday at 6 P.M. with Dora hosting this game.

The Escelante Boys team will face off against Hagerman on Saturday at 3:00 P.M. Escelante will host this game.
