Española Community Matanza

A traditional community matanza will take place Saturday, June 3 on the Plaza de Española where people are invited to attend to feast on great food and see great entertainment. The matanza runs from 1:00-8:00 p.m. and the community is invited to participate in several free attractions, including lowrider show, local booths, jumping balloons and musical performances.

An amazing traditional matanza meal will also be served, with adults eating for $10 and children 12 and under for $5.

Live entertainment will include:

  • Graviel de la Plaga/Carlos Medina
  • Divino
  • Balie Illusion
  • Po’pay Pueblo Dancers
  • The Dave Maestas Band
  • A poetry slam with Adam Trujillo, Scott Davis, Luis Pena, Ralph Martinez and featuring Carlos Garcia.

The public is encouraged to bring their own lawn chair and blanket for the grass.

Food will be served from 1:30 to 5:30. A children’s menu will be available. The menu includes pork, beans, calabacitas, red & green chile, tortillas and more. You can purchase tickets at FastBucks, located at 912 N. Riverside Dr. in Española.

All proceeds from this event go to the 2017 Española Valley Fiesta.
