Espanola School District Offices are overseeing the start of the new school year this week but according to several parents, the administration cannot be contacted by telephone.

Lab Employees Give $566,750 In Scholarships: EVHS's Evelyn Juarez Earns Silver-10k

LAESF Awards 95 Scholarships Ranging from $1,000-$20,000

EVHS Class of 2016 Co-Valedictorian, Evelyn Juarez, shown here with her mother, Angelica, in a photo taken immediately after the LANL Foundation's presentation of the 2016 Los Alamos Employees' Scholarship Awards to area students which totalled $566,750-over one half million dollars! Juarez was one of six Silver Scholars receiving a $10,000 scholarship. Three students received the Gold Scholars scholarship which was $20,000. The Senator Pete Domenici Scholars, John & Marti Brown Leadership Scholars, and the Susan Herrera Scholars were given scholarships of $10,000 also. Bronze Scholars scholarships were up to $5,000 while Named/Memorial Scholars were awarded from $1,000 to $4,000 and the 2015 Tribal Business Scholars were awarded $1,000. Juarez is planning to attend UNM and plans to become a pediatrician.
