Attention Rio Chama Acequia Parciantes

You're acequia delegate is needed at an important organizational meeting.

We face some very serious problems along the Rio Chama. After many years of benefiting irrigators of the lower valley, the Rio Chama Acequia Association (RCAA) is fast approaching deadlines that must be met to:

  • Re-establish our legal representation in the Audubon / Ohkay Owingeh water rights adjudication
  • continued participation in Cooperative water sharing negotiations with State regulators and upper Rio Chama irrigators
  • take advantage of funding opportunities for acquiring additional water storage capabilities

At the current time, we cannot function as an organization unless we act immediately to reestablish the Board of Directors, elect new officers, and start communicating through regular meetings. Steps have recently been taken to formally dissolve the RCAA. We must halt this process and Revitalize the organization period

Acequia officers, please identify your representatives to the RCAA and call Tim Seaman at 505-685-4871 with that representative's name and urge your representative to attend the May 3 meeting. Please note, only one designated representative from each dish will be eligible to vote.
